The Makgadikgadi salt pans are one of Botswana's most interesting and
unique landscapes available to safari travelers. We offer day trips and
longer safaris into the Makgadikgadi Pans.
One of the world's largest salt pans, the great Makgadikgadi Pans,
covers
about 10,000square kilometers of the Kalahari. Surrounding the salt
crusted
flats lush grasslands and palm lined islands.
With the coming of the rains in November, the pans fill with water and
the surrounding grasslands attract herds of zebra, wildebeest and
antelope - the last surviving migration in Southern Africa.
During the dry season, the grasslands turn to gold and only the hardiest
desert-adapted species remain; rare and fascinating creatures unique to
the Kalahari such as the brown hyena, meerkat and springbok.
